The study site is approximately 10 miles NW of Fruita, Colorado on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.  The general habitat is adobe badlands. The study site is approximately 29 hectares (about 72 acres) and extends over several hills.  

 

    This figure shows the relative elevation of the study site.  The maximum elevation difference from the highest point (NW) to the lowest point (SE) is about 28 meters.
